Submitting Your Logbook

When to lodge your logbook

Providing you are at least 17 years of age, you may lodge your completed logbook as soon as you have completed your 100 hours supervised on-road driving experience requirement and your Driving Experience Declaration.

This must be at least 10 days before your practical driving test.

You will not be allowed to take your practical driving test until your logbook has been checked and 'passed' by The Department of Transport and Main Roads. Your driving test fee may not be refunded if you fail to lodge your completed logbook prior to your practical driving test.

How to lodge your logbook

Lodge your logbook at an Australia Post outlet at least 10 days prior to your Q-SAFE practical driving test.

Australia Post will:

  • Arrange for the logbook to be sent to The Department of Transport and Main Roads for assessment (you are not required to pay for this service when you are submitting a The Department of Transport and Main Roads logbook) and
  • Give you a receipt as proof of lodgement of your logbook - retain this receipt as proof of lodgement. The Department of Transport and Main Roads will then assess the logbook.

Notification of your logbook result

If your logbook is complete

  • The Department of Transport and Main Roads will notify you of the result by mail
  • In addition to this you may also choose to be notified by email, SMS or phone. Please nominate your preferred method of notification on the Driving Experience Declaration.
  • Logbooks will be kept by The Department of Transport and Main Roads and remain valid for three years from the date they were passed.

If your logbook and/or declaration are incomplete

  • They will be returned to you to complete
  • You will need to allow additional time to have your logbook and declaration rechecked and passed prior to your Q-SAFE practical driving test.

Driving experience declaration

When your logbook is complete, you must complete and sign the driving Experience Declaration.

  • This should be signed in front of a witness who can verify your signature and your driver licence number. The witness must be at least 18 years of age and hold a current Queensland open driver licence when they sign the logbook.

  • You must be at least 17 years of age before you can sign the declaration and lodge your logbook. The signed and completed declaration must be lodge with your completed logbook.
